Snapchat - Taking Selfies to a whole new level!
If the Snapchat epidemic has yet to hit your college campus, trust me, it’s on its way. The iPhone application “Snapchat” has been taking over college campuses for the past few months now. This app combines taking selfies, making the most unattractive faces you possibly can, drawing whatever you want on top of these hideous pictures and adding a message that better be humorous enough to ensure the person on the receiving end is laughing with you, not at you. The obsession with this app stems from the idea that you get to control the amount of time the person you send this to can view the picture. You can choose anywhere from 1 to 10 seconds depending on the level of embarrassment. This means most people tend to stick to a standard 3 seconds, meaning pretty extreme embarrassment.
The best part about this new phenomenon is not sending or receiving these snapchats, but watching people take these embarrassing selfies in person. Yes, people snapchat in public. Whether you’re in the library, at a tailgate, at a frat party, walking to or sitting in class, you can spot the snapchatters from a mile away. If you see someone standing on the corner of Main Street making the duck kissy faces, or sitting in the library crossing their eyes or sticking their tongue out at their phone, you know you have spotted one. Snapchatters have no shame of making these faces at their iPhones in public. In fact, they may be the most confident on campus. They are the ones that have yet to find fucks to give. So if you can’t beat ‘em you’re probably going to have to join them, download the snapchat app and get those selfies going.
At least you know it will delete soon enough.
